G’bal: Despite the introduction of the Scan and Share Queue Management System aimed at reducing wait times at hospital OPDs, District Hospital Ganderbal faces significant challenges.
Numerous patients have voiced difficulties with the system, especially during the registration process that issues a token number. Many patients either do not own phones or lack smartphones, making the registration process cumbersome for them. Although there is a designated counter for assistance, those unable to register electronically receive no help, rendering the system ineffective for them.
Local residents have criticized the change, describing it as more hindrance than help. They argue that the system fails to accommodate the needs of those who are not tech-savvy or lack access to smartphones. Without offline options for obtaining OPD registration cards, patients struggle to navigate the online registration process, often requiring external assistance to complete it. One patient shared his experience of needing help from someone nearby to register for an online token. He expressed his lack of knowledge and desperation in seeking assistance. He mentioned the unavailability of offline OPD cards and highlighted the challenges people face in understanding the new online registration process.
The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Ganderbal Dr.Nighat.yasmeen informed that individuals who are illiterate or do not possess a smartphone face significant challenges. To address this issue effectively, we have dedicated volunteers who generously use their personal mobile devices to generate tokens and facilitate the issuance of tickets for these individuals, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance.
