Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam; Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgamand and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Khudwani Bypass Crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Nengroo S/o Nazir Ahmad Nengroo R/o BadrooYaripora, carrying a nylon bag, who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party, but was apprehended tactfully. Police in its statement further said that during search, 5 grams of Brown Sugar and 2 Kgs of Poppy were recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that a case underFIR No. 63/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qaimoh besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned therein that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
