Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested nine drivers involved in illegal mining of minerals at Palhallan Pattan in Baramulla district and also arrested their drivers.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan assisted by InCharge Police Post Palhallan, seized nine vehicles (Tippers) and also arrested 9 drivers identified as Abdul Rashid Lone S/o MohdSabirR/o Shiva Sopore, Nazir Ahmad GanieS/o Mohd Abdullah R/o Gantamulla Payeen, Afeer Ahmad BhatS/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Mujgund Srinagar, Nazir Ahmad ReshiS/o Habibullah R/o Hardu Shiva Sopore, Tariq Ahmad Lone S/o GhMohd, Mudasir Farooq Mir S/o Farooq Ahmad, Rayees Ahmad GeelaniS/o Gh Mohiuddin, all residents of BatangiBoniyar, Rayees Ahmad Malik S/o Mohd Sultan R/o TujarShariefSopore&GhNabi Sheikh S/o Ab Aziz R/o Jawand Nowshera.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that the said accused were found involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals and accordingly a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pattan besides initiating investigation .
