“Not only the food quality but even the rates charged by private hostels from students pursuing coaching in coaching hubs of Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir valley are also not regulated.”

Regulating food quality is not just about checking food served at restaurants and hotels but it is also about regulating food quality at guest houses and private hostels rented out to students pursuing coaching for different courses in Srinagar City and major towns of Kashmir valley. While complaints about the quality of food served at private hostels rented out to students in coaching hubs of Srinagar like Parraypora area in uptown Srinagar are rising day after day, the J&K food safety organisation authorised to regulate food quality at restaurants, hotels, guest houses and private hostels rented out to students has reduced it’s actions on food safety to inspections of few restaurants and hostels in Srinagar city. Unfortunately the complaints about gastroenterological disorders by students putting up at private hostels during the periods of coaching for various courses are not catching the attention of the top functionaries of J&K Food Safety Organisation.  Not only the food quality but even the rates charged by private hostels from students pursuing coaching in coaching hubs of Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir valley are also not regulated. It is not only the domain of the J&K Food Safety Organisation to regulate the rates and food quality at private hostels rented out to students pursuing coaching in coaching hubs in Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir valley but the onus lies also on tourism department also in both Kashmir Valley and as well as Jammu division. Never forget that the thrust on home stay guest houses by tourism department also necessitates thorough inspection of food quality at home stay guest houses too to ensure availability of hygienic food to tourists at home stay guest houses. In fact food quality becomes an uncompromising priority when J&K Food Safety Organisation and J&K Tourism department talk about healthy and hygiene food at restaurants, hotels, guest houses and private student hotels hired by students pursuing coaching in Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir valley.

Administrative wisdom demands that J&K Food Safety Organisation and J&K Tourism Department collaborate on regulation of food quality at restaurants, hotels, guest houses and private student hotels rented out to students in coaching hubs of Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir to show no compromise on healthy and hygienic food.

Unfortunately reduced intensity of the inspections  of both the J&K Food Safety Organisation and as well as J&K tourism department shows compromise on healthy and hygienic food at restaurants, hotels, guest houses and private student hotels in Srinagar and major towns of Kashmir valley.
