New Delhi: The Union Government on Thursday re-appointed Ajit Doval as the National Security Advisor (NSA) for the third consecutive time.
According to an official statement, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Ajit Doval, IPS (Retired) as National Security Advisor with effect from 10.06.2024. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
“During the term of his office, he will be assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence. Terms and conditions of his appointment will be notified separately,” the statement further added.
Notably, Doval was made the NSA on May 30, 2014 during the first term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He had replaced former Indian Foreign Service officer Shiv Shankar Menon.
In 2019, he was re-appointed to this post in the second term of the Modi government.
Born on 20 January 1945 in Ghiri village of Pauri district of Uttarakhand, Doval, was a Indian Police Service officer of Kerala cadre and has also served as the Chief of the Intelligence Bureau.
