Jammu: Security Forces have eliminated one militant on Tuesday evening in an ongoing operation in Kathua district of Jammu province.
“One militant has been eliminated in village Saida Sohal in tehsil Hiranagar of Kathua district,” said a police spokesman. The operation is underway, the spokesman added.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh posted on X, “I am in continuous online contact with DC Kathua Rakesh Minhas in the wake of #militant attack on a house in village Saida in Hiranagar sector close to the international border. I am also in touch with SSP Kathua Sh Anayat Ali Choudhary who is on the spot.”
“The owner of the house that was attacked (name not to be disclosed) is also in touch on mobile phone. Joint police & para military operation is going on. One #militant neutralised so far. I and my office are in constant touch and keeping a close watch on the developments.,” he posted.
Earlier security forces late Tuesday evening launched a massive search operation after suspected militants struck in border village of tehsil Hiranagar in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that at around 7:45 pm, three suspected militants were seen in village Saida Sohal in Hiranagar area.
“The suspects fired a few rounds and ran away towards forest area,” they said.
Sources added that security forces have rushed to the spot and have launched a massive search operation.
Notably, on June 9, militants attack a bus ferrying pilgrims in Reasi district following which the vehicle plunged into a gorge leaving 10 dead and 33 injured.
