Kupwara :: In order to curb the practice of illegal profiteering and black marketing in the district, ahead of the upcoming festival of Eid ul- Adha, the Special Market Checking teams of District Administration Kupwara conducted intensified market checking in various parts of Handwara, Kupwara and Langate.
Market checking drives are undertaken to ensure sellers are not taking advantage of increased demand by unfairly raising prices, and it is ensured that all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates as per the quality standards with sufficient availability of consumables.
Additional Deputy Commisioner (ADC) Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather supervised the market checking drive at Handwara, Langate and Kralgund. A fine of Rs. 9300 was realised from the erring shopkeepers.
Market Checking drive was also conducted in Kupwara by officials of MC Kupwara, FCS&CA, Food Safety Officer Kupwara, under the supervision of Tehsildar Kupwara. Fine to the tune of Rs 4000 was realized. On the occasion, Shopkeepers were warned not to encroach upon the roads and pavements of the important markets.
Some expired items were destroyed on the spot.
Enforcement drive by the officials of ARTO office Kupwara was conducted under the supervision of ARTO Kupwara, Bilal Ahmad. Several documents (DL and permit) were seized and e-challans of Rs 15000 were also done during the enforcement drive.

Eid-Ul-Azha arrangements finalized at Bhaderwah
Bhaderwah : Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah, Sunil Kumar on Tuesday discussed the arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha here at a meeting held in his office chamber.
Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Bhaderwah, Block Medical Officer, Tehsil Supply Officers, SHO, Livestock Development Officer, Naib Tehsildars and other concerned officers were present. Besides, the representatives from Anjuman Islamia, Beopar Mandal and the Fire and Emergency Department also attended the meeting.
Security and other arrangements were discussed thoroughly. Respective departments briefed the meeting about the provision of power and water supply, besides availability of essential commodities such as mutton, chicken, vegetables, fruits and dairy items at approved rates and sanitation of the Town.
The Tehsildar, Livestock Development Officer, Food Safety Officer, Executive Officer Municipal Committee and TSOs were instructed to conduct market checking and ensure the availability of good quality items at approved rates.

Eid-Ul-Azha arrangements finalised at Udhampur
Udhampur : Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Saloni Rai finalized the necessary arrangements for Eid-Ul-Azha at a meeting held in Mini Conference Hall DC Office Complex, here on Tuesday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr Umesh Shan; Additional SP, Baljit Singh and other District Officers besides Representatives of civil society attended the meeting.
Detailed discussions were held on the provision of Drinking water supply; uninterrupted power supply, First Aid, Fire tenders, quality and rate checking of eatables, and sanitation in the city.
The DC directed the concerned departments to take advance measures to provide adequate essential services and maintain cleanliness in the district, while police authorities were asked to put in security arrangements.
Enforcement departments were asked to conduct frequent visits to the market during the festival days to keep a check on the rates and quality of the eatables.
The Chief Medical officer was directed to make available Medicare facilities at Eid Gah and Jamia Masjid Udhampur during the festival while Traffic Police was asked to deploy adequate police personnel in traffic jam prone places of the town for effective traffic regulation.
The shopkeepers were directed to prominently display the rate lists of eatables in their shops and refrain from overcharging.

Enforcement team conducts Market checking in Kishtwar Town ahead of Eid-ul-Adha
Kishtwar : A joint team of enforcement departments on Tuesday fined several traders in Kishtwar town during a comprehensive market inspection conducted ahead of Eid-ul-Adha and Urs.
The inspection team led by Assistant Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Shafqat Hussain Keen, included officials from various departments.
The team fined several vendors for not adhering to the approved rates. A fine amounting to Rs. 3,700 was recovered from erring traders.
Alongside the inspections, an awareness campaign was conducted to educate vendors on the importance of displaying rate lists, verifying weighing machines, and maintaining cleanliness in their premises.
Vendors were reminded of their responsibility to maintain hygienic conditions, which is particularly important during festivals when food safety concerns are heightened. They were advised to keep their stalls clean and dispose of waste properly to prevent health hazards.
The inspection drive received positive feedback from the local community, who appreciated the administration’s proactive measures to ensure a fair and clean market environment. The FCS&CA department assured that similar inspections would continue to maintain market discipline and protect consumers from malpractices.

DC Shopian finalizes arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha
Shopian : In order to review arrangements for the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, a meeting of district officers was on Tuesday held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb at DC Office Complex, here.
At the outset, the DC took a detailed appraisal of the arrangements being made by all the line departments on the auspicious occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
The DC directed the Officers of all the line departments to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance so that people do not face any difficulty during the celebration of the holy occasion.
He reviewed traffic regulation, waste disposal and sanitation, water, power availability, market checking, Medicare facilities and other arrangements, and instructed concerned Officers to extend all facilities to the people.
Strict instructions were issued to the concerned to check profiteering and hoarding and checking market practices through market checking, and proper disposal of hides and offals.
Availability of sheep, chicken and other essentials was also reviewed and directions given for keeping specified sale outlets of sheep across the district’s prominent places.
The meeting was attended by ACR, SDM, officers of KPDCL, MC, Jal Shakti, Health, Information, FCS&CA, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Legal Metrology, tehsildars and other concerned.
