New faces, old guards in Modi’s 3.O NDA Ministry

New Delhi, Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi after taking oath for the third consecutive term along with 71 ministers last Sunday recommended allocation of portfolios to his cabinet colleagues and Ministers of State . President Droupadi Murmu directed the allocation of portfolios on the recommendation of the Prime Minister Monday evening.
As already reported that among the ministers, 30 are Cabinet Ministers, five are Ministers of State with Independent charge, and 36 are Ministers of State. Notably, Amit Shah has retained the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh continues as the Defence Minister, and Nitin Gadkari remains in charge of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra have been appointed as Ministers of State in the ministry. Prominent among those having joined the BJP led coalition ministry include H D Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular) and Janata Dal (United) leader Lalan Singh, a close aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, have joined the ministry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also in charge of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the Department of Atomic Energy, the Department of Space, all important policy issues, and all other portfolios not allocated to any Minister.
Among the Cabinet Ministers, Raj Nath Singh retains his role as the Minister of Defence, while Amit Shah continues as the Minister of Home Affairs and also takes on the role of Minister of Cooperation. Nitin Jairam Gadkari continues as the Minister of Road Transport and Highways. Jagat Prakash Nadda has been appointed as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare and the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare as well as the Minister of Rural Development. Nirmala Sitharaman remains the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Corporate Affairs. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar continues as the Minister of External Affairs. Manohar Lal has taken the roles of Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Minister of Power.
HD Kumaraswamy is now the Minister of Heavy Industries and the Minister of Steel. Piyush Goyal serves as the Minister of Commerce and Industry. Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as the Minister of Education. Jitan Ram Manjhi is the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, serves as the Minister of Panchayati Raj and the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Sarbananda Sonowal is the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Dr. Virendra Kumar takes on the role of Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu is the Minister of Civil Aviation.
Pralhad Joshi has been appointed as the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and the Minister of New and Renewable Energy. Jual Oram is the Minister of Tribal Affairs. Giriraj Singh is the Minister of Textiles. Ashwini Vaishnaw holds multiple portfolios as the Minister of Railways, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, and Minister of Electronics and Information Technology.
Jyotiraditya M. Scindia is the Minister of Communications and the Minister of Development of the North Eastern Region. Bhupender Yadav is the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is the Minister of Culture and the Minister of Tourism.
Annpurna Devi has been appointed as the Minister of Women and Child Development. Kiren Rijiju serves as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and the Minister of Minority Affairs. Hardeep Singh Puri is the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya is the Minister of Labour and Employment and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.
G. Kishan Reddy is the Minister of Coal and the Minister of Mines. Chirag Paswan has taken the role of Minister of Food Processing Industries. Finally, C R Patil is the Minister of Jal Shakti. ### Ministers of State (Independent Charge)
Rao Inderjit Singh has been appointed as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the Ministry of Planning, and the Ministry of Culture. Dr. Jitendra Singh of Jammu & Kashmir having joined the Modi Government for third consecutive term has been again assignedseveral key responsibilities as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and various other important roles. He is also the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the Department of Atomic Energy, and the Department of Space.
Arjun Ram Meghwal has been appointed as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Law and Justice and continues his work in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. His expertise in legal matters will be essential in these roles.
