Srinagar, June 10: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said that nefarious designs are being hatched by elements inimical to peace to push Jammu region into turmoil. He said those responsible for attack on pilgrim’s bus in J&K’s Reasi will not be spared unpunished.
“This is a tragic incident. The militants attacked on a bus driver after the bus lost its control and plunged into deep gorge. As per reports available as of now 9 persons have been killed and 33 others injured. Among 18 have been admitted at GMC Jammu while 14 are being treated at Narayana Hospital Jammu,” LG Sinha said.
He also said that PM Modi and Home Minister are also monitoring the situation themselves since yesterday and that a joint operation is going on in the area to track down the attackers.
He added that their priority is to ensure that those injured in the incident are saved and “we know there is no compensation for the dead, but we have announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for family members of those killed in the incident and Rs 50 thousand for the injured.”
