5 Drug Peddlers Arrested In South Kashmir, Contraband Substances Recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Pulwama and Kulgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Chitrepora Pulwama, arrested a drug peddler identified as Shahid Salam Ganie S/o Ab Salam Ganie R/o Sirnoo, along with contraband substance.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 108/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pulwama besides initiating investigation, Police in its statement further said that on disclosure and the evidence surfaced during the investigation raids were at multiple locations, resulting in the recovery of a Heroin weighing approximately 80 grams. Police in its statement further said that three more accused were arrested and subsequently identified as Abrar Farooq S/o Farooq Ahmad Khan R/o Prichoo, Tariq Ahmad Ganie S/o Bashir Ahmad Ganie R/o Chandgam and Fayaz Ahmad Wani S/o Ab Ahad Wani R/o Chandgam.
Stating that in Kulgam also a Police party of Police Station Manzgam under the supervision of SHO Police Station Manzgam intercepted a Scooty bearing registration number JK03G-3801, at a checkpoint established at main road Korel near Mirwani crossing, Police in its statement furthermore said that during search, 500 grams of Charas was recovered from the scooty rider, identified as Mohd Yaqoob Bhat S/o Ghulam Mohammad Bhat R/o Kher Kadal Takibal Bijebhara who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that, the scooty used in the commission of crime was also seized.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that a case under FIR No. 32/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Manzgam besides initiating further investigation into the case.
