Allegations of irregularities in the evaluation system of a national level examination like NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) and leak of papers at several locations in one or too many states demand and deserve a thorough impartial probe”.

Two or three candidates scoring equal marks for top rank in any examination in any part of the country is not a surprise but 67 students scoring equal marks enabling them to share top rank in a prestigious national level examination like NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) conducted for admission to medical colleges across the country is surely a big surprise for the candidates in particular and the people in general.  With 67 qualifiers scoring highest marks and consequently sharing the top rank in this year’s NEET examination the concerns of thousands of qualifiers finding their positions going down in the merit list amid allegations of irregularities in the evaluation system leveled against National Testing Agency (NTA) during a sit in at Delhi the Union Capital  necessitate an impartial probe into the conduct of the examination and the evaluation system the National Testing Agency (NTA) followed for framing the final merit list. Allegations of irregularities in the evaluation system of a national level examination like NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) and leak of papers at several locations in one or too many states demand and deserve a thorough impartial probe for the satisfaction of lacs of candidates who participated in the examination this year as usual. As Patna police has reported that NEET paper was leaked at multiple locations, it is obviously clear that the allegations of compromises in the fairness of the examination process having been brought to the notice of local police authorities for the purposes of proper investigation can’t be rejected without holding an impartial probe. Interestingly mid-term revision of syllabus is yet another cause of confusion and increasing frustration about the fairness of the examination process among lacs of NEET aspirants in the country.

“The allegations of the NEET participants concern not only the integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA) but also careers of lacs of participants of this year’s NEET examination. Had paper leak charges not brought into disrepute the integrity of National Testing Agency (NTA) before the declaration of the results of NEET examination the public outrage over the charges of irregularities in the evaluation system won’t have brought into disrepute the integrity of NAT one of the top examination bodies in the country.

The row over the inflation in scores by the qualifiers is not only about 67 highest scorers sharing top ranks in the NEET examination but it is also about instances of drastic score improvements enabling the candidates to secure more than 600 marks beyond well established methods of evaluations in the final result. The NEET participants are as such suspicious about the evaluation process for very right reasons. Mismatch between the OMR sheet scores and the final result score is yet another grievance deserving and demanding urgent attention of the National Testing Agency (NTA).  The allegations of the NEET participants concern not only the integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA) but also careers of lacs of participants of this year’s NEET examination.
