YSS G’bal commemorates ‘World Environment Day-2024’

Series of events organised to generate environmental awareness among masses

Ganderbal : The YSS Ganderbal marked World Environment Day 2024 with a series of impactful events throughout the district.
Various schools organized rallies, with students chanting slogans in support of environmental protection. This initiative aimed to instill a deep commitment to environmental conservation and ecosystem restoration among people.
World Environment Day, celebrated globally on June 5th, is a day dedicated to raising awareness and promoting action for the preservation of our environment. This year’s theme, ‘Restoring Ecosystems,’ underscores the urgent need to rejuvenate our damaged ecosystems, a crucial step towards a sustainable future.
Additionally, Zone Ganderbal of the District hosted an inter-school zonal handball competition at GCOPE Gadoora Ganderbal for boys under 17 years.
The event, now in its second day, featured the participation of 46 students. The competition included two semi-final matches and culminated in an exciting final, where Qamaria HSS Saloora Ganderbal emerged victorious over BHSS Ganderbal.
DYSSO Ganderbal, interacted with the student athletes and motivated them with his inspiring words. He highlighted the role of sports in holistic development beyond mere recreation. Senior officials concluded the event by awarding trophies to the finalist tea
Meanwhile, Zone Hariganiwan organized an inter-school zonal football competition for girls under 17 years at the BHSS Hariganiwan ground, which saw enthusiastic participation from many female students. BHSS Hariganiwan claimed victory over HS Sultania Educational Institute. Both winning and runner-up teams were honored with trophies by senior officials.
In a similar vein, Zone Tullamulla held an inter-school zonal football competition for boys under 19 years at the picturesque Hyderia ground Tullamulla. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from numerous students. In the final match, BHSS Batwina triumphed over BHSS Wakura with a remarkable performance.
The event aimed to promote a sports culture within the community, encouraging extensive student participation in sports for a vibrant, energetic lifestyle free from societal vices.
