Srinagar: A youth jumped into the river Jhelum at Bharave Ghat in Chattabal area of Srinagar on Saturday, officials said.
They added that soon after the incident, a rescue operation was launched by police and locals and was later joined by the SDRF, but no trace of the youth was found.
An official said that a person jumped into the river Jhelum at Bharave Ghat in Chattabal on Saturday.
He added that the person was later identified as Mohd Iqbal Dar, son of Satar, a resident of Sadnara Hajin Bandipora.
Soon after the news spread, a massive rescue operation was launched at the spot by police and locals, and was later joined by the SDRF.
Officials added that the search operation is going on and has been suspended for the night in wake of the dim light
