Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Waheeda Parveen said that the day is commemorated every-year since 2001 when it was first celebrated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. “The idea behind this celebration was to highlight how dairy helps nourish people around the globe” she added. She further said that milk supplies much needed nutrients like proteins, vitamins and minerals which make it an important food for growing children, pregnant women, adults, old-age persons and patients alike.
