2 bootleggers’ arrests in Kulgam; 34 bottles of illicit liquor recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police in Kulgam on Saturday arrested two bootleggers and recovered 34 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Qazigund during patrolling at Chaimula crossing Qazigund intercepted two suspects identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Hassan Bhat R/o Batingoo, Anantnag and Amir Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohd Jabbar Sofi R/o Gur Veeri Bijebhara, Anantnag carrying gunny bags and during search recovered 34 bottles of illicit liquor filled in the said bags from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that cases under FIR No. 154/2024 under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighbourhood and also warned that people found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
