171 drug peddlers arrested, registers 95 cases registered in last 5 months in B’la: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has registered 95 cases under NDPS Act and arrested 171 drug peddlers including 44 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS in the first five months of year 2024.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that contraband and psychotropic substances worth Rs 51.62 Crores (value of contraband in black market) has also been recovered and seized, adding therein that 15 vehicles used for NDPS activities have been also seized in the district.
Stating that during past five months illegal properties of 16 drug peddlers worth Rs 5.5 crores have been also attached, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
