129 cases of Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals registered, 210 vehicles seized since last 5 months in B’la: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has registered 129 cases and also arrested 210 persons for being involved in extraction & transportation of minerals during the first five months of year 2024, adding therein that 210 vehicles used in the transportation of illegal minerals habe been also seized.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that vehicles have been seized from different areas of the district Baramulla and include 91 Tippers, 113 Tractors & 6 excavators. Stating that Baramulla Police along with the Mineral Department also realised fine in lacs for illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the district, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that it is committed to take action against violators taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally and also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
