Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance & cash from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Old Town Baramulla headed by In-Charge Police Post Old Town at a checkpoint established at Binner-Janbazpora Crossing, intercepted a vehicle Mahindra 407 bearing registration number JK01AR-9172 driven by Gh Mohi-ud-Din Malik S/o Ab Aziz Malik R/o Binner Baramulla and later during search recovered 68 grams of Charas and cash amount of Rs. 10,500/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) were recovered from the possession of the said accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla besides initiating further investigation, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
