Srinagar: Tragedy struck on Thursday afternoon as 22 lives were lost and 67 individuals sustained injuries when a bus carrying pilgrims plunged into a deep gorge at Tungi Morh Tanda area of Akhnoor in Jammu district, officials reported.
According to the police, the bus was enroute from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh to the Shiv Khori area of Reasi district when the accident occurred. The bus plummeted approximately 200 meters into the gorge, prompting an immediate rescue operation. Injured passengers were swiftly evacuated to nearby hospitals. Muhammad Saleem Khan, the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Akhnoor, informed Kashmir Horizon that 22 individuals were brought in lifeless, while around 67 others sustained injuries. “The critically injured have been transferred to GMC Jammu for specialized medical care,” he stated..

Two persons however were unidentified when the reports last came in and two also were minors.
