Contraband substances recovered in Kulgam, 3 drug peddlers arrested in Sopore: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has recovered huge consignment of drugs in Kulgam and also arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting promptly upon a specific inputs regarding the hoarding of huge quantity of narcotic substance, a police party headed by I/C Police Post Frisal under the supervision of Dy SP Police Component Hatipora raided the suspected place (Band Saw Mill) at Kaladrund in presence of executive magistrate at Kaladrund, adding therein that during thorough search 209.7 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in 12 nylon bags was recovered. Police in its statement further said that however, the owner identified as Ghulam Nabi Kuttay S/o Abdul Aziz Kuttay R/o Kaladrund is selling the contraband among the youth of nearby areas and thus makes them drug addicts.
Stating that in Sopore also a police party of Police Post Bus Stand, at a checkpoint established at Model Town intercepted 3-wheeler passenger Auto bearing registration number JK05B 6503 with three suspects on board identified as Waseem Ahmad Naikoo S/o Mohammad Rajab Naikoo R/o Nowpora Kalan Sopore, Manzoor Ahmad Nadroo @Goja S/o Abdul Aziz Nadroo R/o Shair Colony Sopore and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Shaban Dar R/o Shair Colony Sopore, Police in its statement furthermore said that during search 3.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the possession of the accused.
Police in its statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations into the cases.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
