Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that in collaboration with civil administration a special drive against illegal cultivation of Poppy was on Tuesday launched in villages Gund Khawaja Qasim Pattan, Watergam Kreeri and Warpora Tangmarg.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the individuals found involved in cultivation of poppy have been identified as Mohammad Ramzan Dar S/o Gh Mustafa R/o G K Qasim Pattan, Manzoor Ahmad Rather S/o Ab Hameed, Ab Gani Tantray S/o Mohammad Ramzan, Mohd Yousuf Pala S/o Ab Jafar, Gh Hussain Rather S/o Gh Hassan & Mohd Zaman Rather S/o Gh Hassan, all residents of Watergam Kreeri and Gh Mohammad Bhat S/o Ab Gaffar Bhat R/o Warpora Tangmarg.
Stating that cases under FIR Nos. 181/2024, 68/2024 and 55/2024 were registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station, Kreeri and Police Station Tangmarg besides initiating further investigations, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to continue this drive in other areas also and appealed people to extend their cooperation in this drive against drug abuse.
