DLSA B’pora organizes Awareness Prog on Solid Waste Management

Bandipora : On the directions of Member Secretary J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora in collaboration with Municipal Committee Bandipora on Tuesday organized an awareness programme on Solid Waste Management at Community Hall, Municipal Committee, Bandipora.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Amit Sharma, Chairman DLSA/ Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Bandipora and guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Bandipora to create awareness among the general public to segregate waste and to explain to them the evils of dumping garbage at public places.
On the occasion Adv. Aamir Shafi and Adv. Nawaz-ul-Haq, Assistant, Legal Aid Defence Council, Bandipora resource persons delivered the lecture on the importance of Solid Waste Management and also highlighted the issue of effects of Poor Solid Waste Management.
They said that due to improper disposal of solid waste particularly by waste management organizations, the collected waste piles up and becomes a problem for both the environment and also for the public.
In the said programme, participants were sensitized regarding the proper collection, treatment, analysis and disposal of Solid Wastes by the speakers.
The programme was attended by staff members of DLSA Bandipora, officials of Municipal Committee, students of NM Boys Higher Secondary School, Kaloosa Bandipora, Shahi Hamdan School Bandipora, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Bandipora and other participants.
