Govt GLDM Degree College organises impact lecture series sponsored by Union Ministry of Education

College becomes first institution of J&K to qualify coveted sponsorship

Kathua: IIC (Institutional Innovation Council) of Government Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar organised Impact Lectures on Innovation – Entrepreneurship-Start-Up and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), sponsored by Innovation Cell, union Ministry of Education. The Programme started with Lighting of the traditional lamp followed by Sarswati Vandana.
The resource persons for the programme were Prof. Dr. Ashutosh Vashishtha, Chairman (IIC) and CEO, TBIC School of Business, faculty of Management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra and Dr. Yatheshth Anand, Coordinator IMPV and Head of School of Mechanical Engineering, SMVDU, Katra.
In her inaugural address, Principal of the College, Dr. Pragya Khanna welcomed the resource persons and highlighted the importance of start-up and Entrepreneurship in the present Scenario. She also apprised the students about the various schemes and initiatives taken by the Govt. of India in these areas.
In his talk, Prof. Dr. Ashutosh Vashishtha from School of Business, faculty of Management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, shared his views about Entrepreneurship as career opportunity, objective of IIC, various schemes launched by Government of India under start-up India like DPIIT, NIDHI, NSTEDB, ATM, TBIs etc.
Assistant Professor, Dr. Yatheshth Anand from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University also educated the audience regarding IPR (Intellectual property rights). He gave detailed notes on patents, design, copyright, trademarks etc. He motivated the students to choose the path of start-up, Entrepreneurship so that they may be able to get employment in future.
Dr. Bindu Sharma (President IIC) Govt. GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the initiative taken by the Institution by inviting a galaxy of experts from time to time to deliver lectures on Innovation/Entrepreneurship/Start-Up/IPR for academic growth and for the welfare of the students.
Students from different semesters also participated in the programme with great interest. In the interactive session, both the resource persons also cleared various doubts and queries raised by the students and faculty members. Certificates were also distributed among the students by the dignitaries.
Pertinently, the GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar is maiden institution from JK to get sponsorship due to its remarkable standing in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF); a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Education (MoE) of the Government of India to rank higher education institutions in the country.
The Proceedings of the Programme were conducted by Dr. Rajni Bala and Prof. Shapia Shameem. The faculty members of various departments were also present on the occasion.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Rakesh Sharma.
