“The higher education starts with the admission for undergraduate courses and interestingly admissions to even undergraduate courses are now granted through a countrywide Common Entrance Test designed by the University Grants Commission (UGG).”

Knowing that empowerment of youth lies in the transformation of higher education system in particular and education sector in general the Lt Governor has at a meeting Higher Education Council very rightly directed assessment of the returns in investments by Universities in Jammu & Kashmir. Such an initiative when taken seriously would show the progress made so for by universities in the implementation of National Education Policy-2020 and the contributions of the affiliated colleges of the universities in popularising the subjects introduced by the Universities in last three years. The higher education starts with the admission for undergraduate courses and interestingly admissions to even undergraduate courses are now granted through a countrywide Common Entrance Test designed by the University Grants Commission (UGG). Reform in the admission system at the level of undergraduate courses has as such is giving a sense of satisfaction to the admission seekers of the undergraduate courses at the central universities. Since the interest for admissions in undergraduate courses in central universities through this national level eligibility tests is increasing hugely among the aspirants in Jammu & Kashmir, the higher education system as such is witnessing a change at the very grassroots in Jammu & Kashmir like other parts of the country. As huge transformation in higher education sector in last three years has significantly seen increasing focus on entrepreneurships, start-ups and skill development programs obviously for the purposes of reducing the increasing joblessness among youth in Jammu & Kashmir like many states and union territories of the country, the trends of youth empowerment would hopefully see some progress in coming few years.

“As empowerment of youth begins here in view of the increasing focus on entrepreneurships, start-ups and skill development schemes, the assessment of the investments by universities in these areas matters the most. As Government has just set out an agenda for transforming higher education department in Jammu & Kashmir, the assessment of the investments by the universities in Jammu & Kashmir will take more than two years to set out the agenda for growth and development of entrepreneurships, start-ups and skill development schemes in Jammu & Kashmir.”

Since the change in curriculum matters more than the change in classroom environment, the change in curriculum is set to show changes in the interests of the students in entrepreneurships, start-ups and skill development schemes. The assessment of investments by the Universities in entrepreneurships, start-ups and skill development schemes as such would show some new trends developing among youth at the universities in Jammu & Kashmir. As empowerment of youth begins here in view of the increasing focus on entrepreneurships, start-ups and skill development schemes, the assessment of the investments by universities in these areas matters the most. As Government has just set out an agenda for transforming higher education department in Jammu & Kashmir, the assessment of the investments by the universities in Jammu & Kashmir will take more than two years to set out the agenda for growth and development of entrepreneurships, start-ups and skill development schemes in Jammu & Kashmir.
