Quarterly meeting of UTRC held at Bandipora, Committee recommended 19 cases of UTPs/ Prisoners

Srinagar : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority on Wednesday conducted quarterly meeting of the UnderTrial Review Committee (UTRC) in District Bandipora, for the quarter of April–June, 2024.
The meeting was convened in order to expedite the identification and review of prisoners who are eligible to be considered for release, as well as to accelerate the regular functioning of UTRC and review all eligible under-trial prisoners (UTPs)/Prisoners.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman, DLSA Bandipora, Amit Sharma with the members of the UnderTrial Review Committee (UTRC).
In the meeting, the committee reviewed cases of eligible UTPs/Prisoners shortlisted by the Secretary, DLSA Bandipora for consideration. The committee recommended 19 cases of UTPs/Prisoners and directed Legal Aid Defense Counsels to take necessary steps and file applications/bail applications.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shakeel-ur-Rehman; Secretary DLSA, Bandipora, Nusrat Ali Hakak; Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Lakshay Sharma; Dy SP, DAR Bandipora, Chief Prosecution Officer, Bandipora and Incharge Subsidiary Jail, Bandipora.
