Inter-Zonal Distt Level Tournament commences in Samba

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Samba :: The District Youth Services and Sports Office Samba kicked off the Inter-Zonal District Level Tournament with a grand opening Ceremony. Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, the Chief Guest, declared the tournament open.
The grand event is being held at the iconic Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium under the aegis of Director Youth Services and Sports Department Subash Chander Chhibber and the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports officer Dharmvir Singh.
The Chief Guest, in his inspiring address, exhorted students and participants to immerse themselves in such sports events, emphasizing their pivotal role in holistic development.
Abhishek Sharma stressed upon the students to protect themselves and others from the monster of Drugs. A pledge was also taken to promote sports and fight drug menace.
The competition, spanning a diverse array of disciplines, is going to provide an unparalleled platform to the budding athletes to exhibit their prowess and compete at a grassroots level.
The tournament is set to witness enthusiastic participation of 390 U/14 and U/17 Boys competing fiercely in various events including Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Volleyball, Badminton and Table Tennis.
