Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a local for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Kulgam and also seized his vehicle involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Devsar during patrolling at Peerpora Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Tractor) bearing Chassis number MBNBE52AHMCK25264 loaded with illegally extracted minerals driven by one Waseem Iqbal Dar S/o Mohd Iqbal Dar R/o Ashmuji Khalsa, Kulgam who was arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that the a case under FIR No. 41/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Devsar besides initiating further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Police in its statement also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
