Kathua: Rs 2.18 lac penalty imposed on traders for FSS Act violation

Kathua: The Adjudicating Officer and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Kathua, Ranjit Singh, has imposed Rs 2.18 lakh penalty on erring Food Business Operators (FBOs) operating in the district.
The penalties were imposed for the sale of misbranded and substandard food items, in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006.
This enforcement action targeted multiple manufacturers, wholesale dealers and retailers found to be contravening the provisions of the FSS Act-2006. The ADM, acting as the Adjudicating Officer, emphasized the necessity of compliance with the legal standards governing the food industry.
Ranjit Singh issued strict warnings to the erring FBOs, urging strict adherence to the Food Safety and Standards Act and its associated regulations. He warned that future violations would attract even harsher penalties.
The ADM instructed the Enforcement Agency to take decisive actions against the violators under the directives of the FSS Act-2006.
