Srinagar : In a bid to enhance voters participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a number of sports activities including material art, table tennis, carrom, chess and canvas painting were on Thursday organised in the backdrop of a colourful ambiance at the Clock Tower, Lal Chowk by Youth Services and Sports Department and Kashmir University’s Music and Fine Art department.
Nukkad Natak focusing on women voters was the main attraction of the event.
District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, who is also the Returning Officer (RO) 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency joined the vibrant Voter Awareness programme organised by District Election Authority at the historic Clock Tower under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
On the occasion, a team of students displayed martial art forms while the students of Music and Fine Art, Kashmir University captured the overall activities of surroundings.
A large number of school going students, Youth and Citizens participated in the electoral awareness.
On the occasion, DEO after witnessing the sports activities said that as part of SVEEP activities, an impressive voter awareness campaign is an important element of elections, serving as a cornerstone in fortifying democratic processes.
Today’s awareness event focused on the different designated polling booths viz. pink theme booths for women voters, blue designated for first time voters and red for specially-abled voters.
Nodal Officers including Ahsan ul Haq Chisti, Mantasha binti Rasheed, Sarib Sahran, Tahir Magray, A H Fani, besides officers from Information department, Youth Services and Sports Department, School Education and faculty of Kashmir University were present on the occasion.
