Mega Awareness Prog under SVEEP held at Shopian

Shopian: A mega awareness programme cum rally was on Thursday organized at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Shopian under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
The Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb, who is also District Election Officer (DEO), was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the DEO stressed upon the students to aware their parents as well as masses about the importance of participation in the election process. He appealed all to motivate them to exercise the franchise on 13th of May, for Srinagar PC and on 25 May for Anantnag – Rajouri PC.
Students of various educational institutions, who participated in the event, were sensitized about their role in motivating community members and parents for registering their right of franchise in the upcoming elections in the district.
Later, DEO flagged-off an awareness rally at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Shopian which passed through the Shopian town to Batapora Shopian. The students carried placards highlighting the various facets of the electoral process and impressed upon all for ensuring their participation in the LS elections.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Nodal officer SVEEP, representatives from District Legal Authority Shopian, several officers and teachers were present, while a huge number of students from various schools participated in the programme.
