Samba : Red Ribbon Club and First Aid Committee of Government Degree College Ramgarh organised a one-day awareness lecture on Organ Donation to mark Red Cross Day.
The awareness event was held in collaboration with the State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), Jammu & Kashmir, Superspeciality Hospital GMC Jammu functioning under the National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI.
The program was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Principal of the college Prof (Dr). Geetanjali Andotra. Speaking on the occasion, she motivated the students to be part of this noble cause of organ donation.
The resource person of the awareness program was Anshu Sharma (IEC, SOTTO), who gave a PPT presentation about the functions of SOTTO in J&K and different types of organ donation like liver, cornea, kidney, etc and different types of donors like deceased/dead donors. She emphasized that the need for organ donors has increased significantly over the years. She said that voluntary organ donation is the only way to meet the huge demand for organs. She also focused on Brain Stem Death (BSD) wherein vital organs are taken only after the person is declared Brain dead. She added that people die due to the non-availability of organs for transplant so it is very important to donate organs. She highlighted the various aspects of organ donation which is a significant service to society and mankind. It is a unique opportunity for the donors to donate their organs to save precious lives.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Snobar, Convener, First Aid Committee and Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Red Ribbon Club.
The welcome address and vote of thanks was presented by Prof. (Dr.) Shivali Panjgotra, HoD, EVS.
All the faculty members and students attended the awareness lecture session and many among them also took the pledge ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives’ and received their certificates.
GDC Marh celebrates World Red Cross Day
Jammu : Red Ribbon club of Government Degree College Marh celebrated World Red Cross Day by hosting an awareness event here on the college campus.
The College Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, in his address, highlighted the importance of the day. “On this Day we pay tribute to the millions of volunteers and staff working alongside people in need of protection, assistance, healthcare, social aid and solidarity” she said.
Prof. Madhavi Parasher (HOD Botany) briefed the students that the day is observed to highlight the humanitarian values and activities of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. “These associations play a crucial role in assisting and aiding people impacted by different natural disasters, armed conflicts, and different crises, everywhere,” she added.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Shakun Sharma (HOD Sociology The occasion was graced by Prof. Imitaz Shahid (HOD Zoology, Prof. Asha (HOD Geography), Dr.Balwinder Saini (HOD Chemistry) and Ravi (PTI).
World Red Cross Day observed at Udhampur
Udhampur : Like other parts of the country, World Red Cross Day was observed at District Head Quarter Udhampur.
An informative symposium centered on this year’s theme “Keeping Humanity Alive” was held in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex with
Deputy Commissioner, Saloni Rai was the chief guest.
As many as 10 students drawn from different educational institutions of the District Udhampur participated and threw light on the given topic.
While highlighting the role and functioning of red cross society in the district, the DC congratulated and motivated the participants to take part in all activities carried out by the District Red Cross Society from time to time for the betterment of needy people. She urged the participants to volunteer themselves for the Red Cross which is a best platform for serving the needy people.
Sunil Kumar of Government Higher Secondary School, Garhi clinched first position and Sandeep Singh of Government Higher Secondary School Boys bagged second position, while Meenakshi Devi of Government Girls Higher School Udhampur and Tanvi Verma of Government Girls High school Garhi shared the third position.
Vijay Kumar Senior Lecturer, Government Model Higher Secondary School Boys, Bodh Raj Senior Lecturer Govt Higher Secondary School Chirayi, Rinku Khanna, Teacher MS Gopal Mandir conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Later, the chief guest gave away mementoes and certificates to the participants.
