Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has recovered contraband substance and cash from two residential houses in village Melhura area of Shopian.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said police post Wachi received inputs through reliable sources about two individuals identified as Farooq Ahmad Koka S/o Ghulam Mohd Koka & Ashiq Ahmad Koka S/o Mohd Amin Koka, both residents of Melhura, Shopian having concealed contraband substances at their residential houses, adding therein that a case was registered at Police Post Wachi following which the executive magistrate raided the said residential houses.
Police in its statement said further that during the raids, 2Kg 970grams of Charas like substance concealed in nylon polythene bags and cash amount of Rs. 6,00,000 was recovered from the residential house of Farooq Ahmad Koka besides which 1Kg 784 grams of charas was recovered from the residential house of Ashiq Ahmad Koka. Police however in its statement said that the said accused involved in the commission of crime fled from the spot and efforts are on to nab them, adding therein that case FIR nos 36/2024 & 37/2024 have been registered at Police Station Zainapora respectively besides which investigation has been also set into motion.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
