Ramban: Director Panchayati Raj, Jammu & Kashmir, Sham Lal on Wednesday visited Ramban and chaired a meeting of officers to review the implementation of different schemes in the district.
Assistant Commissioner Development, Shrinath Suman; Assistant Commissioner of Panchayat Ashfaq Kanji; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Udhampur Tanvir-Ul-Majeed; District Information Officer, Ashraf Wani, Block Development Officer, Ramban Yasir Wani and several other officers and officials of RDD were present on the meeting.
It was informed that construction is underway for 16 Panchayat Ghars as part of the Rashtriya Grameen Swaraj Abhiyan across different blocks.
The Director instructed ACP to expedite the construction efforts at all sites to achieve completion by June 2024. In case of any land disputes or obstacles, he directed ACP to seek assistance from the district and local administration for early resolution.
Emphasis was placed on the Panchayat Development Index (PDI), with an immediate call to convene meetings of relevant line departments to authenticate submitted data for further submission at the Union Territory level. This step aims to ensure data accuracy at the nodal point. Additionally, prompt completion of uploading the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) on the e-Gram Swaraj Portal for the financial year 2024-25 was urged.
Furthermore, the Director also reviewed the progress on construction of an additional room as a Common Service Centre within existing Panchayat Ghars. Out of the targeted 13, eight rooms have been completed to date. The executing agency was instructed to maintain strict quality control over ongoing developmental works.
Following the meeting, the Director also inspected the ongoing work at Panchayat Ghar Chanderkot and directed the contractor to complete the project by June 15th.
