Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has booked five drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act in Handwara and Sopore after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Handwara, two drug peddlers namely Prince Parvaiz Hanji S/o Parvaiz Ah Hanji R/o Maratgam and Hillal Ah Dar S/o Ab Rehman R/o Chogul have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
Police in its statement further said in Sopore also three drug smugglers have been booked under PIT-NDPS after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority and they have been identified as Aadil Ashraf Khan S/o Mohammad Ashraf Khan R/o Pethseer Sopore, Aaqib Nissar Gojree S/o Nissar Ahmad Gojree R/o Batpora A/P Model Town Sopore and Bashir Ahmad Dar S/o Zaffar Ahmad Dar R/o Bunpora Dangerpora Sopore.
Stating that the said drug peddlers have been also detained and lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, Police in its statement furthermore said that many cases were previously registered against the said drug peddlers as they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth in their districts, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
