Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two suspects for beinh involved in illegal transportation of minerals in Kulgam district and also seized two vehicles (tractors) from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that it has initiated action under the supervision of SDPO DH Pora assisted by SHO Police Station DH Pora and seized two vehicles (tractors) besides arresting two drivers at Adapora Khull Ahmadabad for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Stating that the said accused drivers were identified as Asgar Rehman Laway S/o Abdul Rehman Laway R/o Ahmadabad & Zakir Ahmad Ganie S/o Nazir Ahmad Ganie R/o Chimmer, Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 49/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station DH Pora besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/River, as it is the violation of Government rules. Police in its statement also warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
