Prof. A. Ravinder Nath flagged off voting awareness rally at NIT Srinagar, 8 day SVEEP awareness campaign concludes

Srinagar : The eight-day long SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program concluded on Friday at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office NIT here, the program was organised under the Students Gymkhana of NIT Srinagar with various clubs conducting a variety of programs from 26th April till 3rd May 2024.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath along with senior professor from JNU flagged off and participated in the voting awareness rally from Fountain Park to Professor’s Quarters. They stressed the importance of voting and encouraged students to get involved in the voting process.
Over the past 8 days, several engaging activities occurred to promote voter awareness among students on campus.
Beginning from 26th April, several activities were coordinated by Dr Sumaira from Rhetorica and Eco Cult Club. Around 50 students participated in the event.
They were engaged in raising awareness through monologue performances and slogan-making competitions, setting an initial enthusiastic atmosphere.
On April 27th, the Sports Club, in collaboration with NCC Female Wing officer Lt. Dr. Nitika Kundan of NIT Srinagar, organized an awareness run alongside NCC’s girls’ unit, attracting approximately 150 student participants.
The momentum continued on April 28th when the Sargam Club, led by Dr. Janani, organized a captivating event featuring various performances including classical dance, music, flash mobs, and movie-like dance sequences. About 300 students actively engaged in this event.
On April 29th, the Culture Club and Soapbox, coordinated by Dr. Dinesh K. Rajendran, hosted a vibrant array of activities including Rangoli making, painting sessions, and Nukkar Natak performances. Around 250 students participated in these cultural activities.
Moving forward to April 30th, the Movie Club, under the coordination of Dr. Parameshwar, showcased reels created by students highlighting the importance of voting. This event attracted participation from 29 teams and about 100 students.
On the fifth day 30th, the Movie Club, under the coordination of Dr. Parameshwar, hosted an event featuring reels created by students highlighting the importance of voting. These short films aim to educate and inspire viewers about the significance of their electoral participation. Around 29 teams’ submitted reels and 100 students participated.
On May 1st, the Technology Club, led by Dr. Iqra Gillani, conducted mock polling with a specially designed EVM machine. 523 students, faculty, and staff participated in this mock election along with ideathons and quiz competitions.
On May 2, Stargazing club conducted an awareness rally that was flagged off by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Ravinder A Nath. Over 70 students participated and later took an oath to vote for the betterment of the nation.
The final day 3rd may the Photography club lead by Dr Sparsh Sharma organised a digital poster designing and sketching competition to spread awareness among the students.
Finally, on May 3rd, the Photography Club, led by Dr. Sparsh Sharma, organized digital poster designing and sketching competitions to spread awareness among students with the theme #SrinagarWillVote.The event concluded with a speech from the honorable director, promoting voter awareness, in the common hall.
