Gang of truck robbers busted in Srinagar, 3 arrested: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has busted a gang of robbers by arresting three suspects for being involved in the commission of crime. Police has also claimed recovery of stolen items from the possession of the said accused.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on Police Station Shalteng on 29th April this year received a written complaint from one Hakam Khan (driver) S/o Anwar Khan from Rajasthan who alleged therein that during the night intervening April 28 and 29 at around 2:30 am, while driving his truck bearing registration No. RJ19GJ3179 at Maloora, a group of men stopped the truck and forcefully took control of his truck and decamped with cash amount of Rs. 15,000, two cell phones including truck cleaner’s cell phone, a gas cylinder, two watches and the truck’s music system. Police in its statement further said that the driver, according to the complaint was also physically assaulted during the incident.
Stating that a case under FIR No 28/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Shalteng besides inituating further investigation , Police in its statement said that during the course of investigation, the investigating teams raided various locations in Srinagar and after strenuous efforts of territorial officers and with the help of technical data analysis, zeroed in on three accused identified as Mohd Amir Keenu S/o Mushtaq Ahmed R/o Palpora A/P Puran Teng Maloora, Adnan Ahmed Shah S/o Mohd Aslam Shah R/o Kanipora Nowgam A/P Padshaha Bagh and Imran Ahmed Shah S/o Gh Mohd R/o Kanipora Nowgam .
Police in its statement furthermore said “during preliminary investigation, it surfaced that these criminals operated a well-organized gang with a modus operandi of targeting vehicles plying on the highway through Srinagar, adding therein that the stolen goods including gas cylinder, mobile phones etc. were recovered from the accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police said that these accused persons were also involved in robbery of trucks along Lasjan Highway on 23/04/2024 & decamped with cash Rs 8000, ATM cards, DL and mobile phone of the truck drivers. Later an FIR 44/2024 stands registered under relevant sections of law in Police Station Nowgam.
