Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir on Thursday led the inauguration of a significant plantation campaign at Tara Gali, Badarkund area in Ganderbal.
This plantation initiative was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with NLCO under Mission 50,000, a pivotal component of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of various stakeholders including ACD Ganderbal, Dr Bashir Ahmad; DFO Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal, Danish Khan; CPO, Shahnawaz Khan; Chairman NLCO, Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo; DFO Social Forestry Ganderbal, DIO Ganderbal, students from diverse educational institutions, and local residents.
Addressing the attendees, the DC complimented all the concerned for this green initiative adding that we have also achieved the slogan of one plant one vote, and till date over two lakh plants have been planted in the district. He appealed to all eligible voters to cast their votes with the same enthusiasm as shown during the plantation drive.
On the occasion the DC also appreciated the NLCO for rejuvenating the spring in the locality.
The DC also solicited the cooperation of the community in safeguarding and nurturing the planted saplings, emphasizing the collective responsibility towards environmental conservation.
The mega plantation drive underscores the District Administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability and civic engagement, marking a significant step towards a greener and more participatory future.
LS Elections 2024: General, Security Observers for 2-Srinagar PC visit Pulwama, review Poll Preparedness
Pulwama: As the General Election to Lok Sabha 2024 are approaching, General Observer for 2-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Mukul Kumar and Security Observer Sandeep Singh Chouhan Thursday made a visit to Pulwama to review the poll preparedness of the district.
District Election Officer (DEO) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom provided a comprehensive briefing to the chair through a detailed presentation, highlighting the district’s preparedness and strategies for smooth conduct of the elections.
The DEO gave a detailed overview of arrangements including SVEEP, Material Management, Manpower Plan, Transport Plan, EVM Management, arrangements at polling stations and Distribution cum Receipt Centres (DCRC), and other measures undertaken for smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district.
It was informed that as many as 4,03,795 registered electorates are exercising their franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in the four Assembly Constituencies of the district.
The DEO assured the Observers of the administration’s full preparedness to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections. Measures such as providing facilities for voters including ramps for persons with disabilities were highlighted to enhance the voting experience.
While reviewing the status of polling stations, the DEO informed that a total 479 polling stations are established in the designated locations in the district, besides 12 Special Polling stations are also established in different locations of the district.
Furthermore, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) Pulwama and Awantipora briefed on the security plan to ensure a safe and secure electoral environment.
The Observers also visited the Joint Control Room and the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) to ensure that all election-related communications are in compliance with the guidelines set by the Election Commission. Monitoring and regulating campaign advertisements and communication are essential to maintain fairness in the electoral process.
Furthermore, Observers inspected the Dispatch cum Receipt Centre (DcRC) established at Degree College Women Pulwama, 35-Rajpora Assembly Constituency, to review the arrangements in place for the timely and secure dispatch of election materials. Ensuring the smooth logistics of election materials is vital for the efficient conduct of polling day operations.
Later observers conducted a thorough examination of the existing security protocols and infrastructure at the District Police Lines. Discussions were held with senior officials and key stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of current strategies and identify areas for improvement.
During the visit, emphasis was placed on leveraging modern technologies and intelligence-gathering techniques to strengthen preemptive measures against potential security threats. Additionally, collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the local community were highlighted as integral to maintaining peace and security in the district.

Pulwama: A mega event under SVEEP organized by District Election Office in Lassipora, Pulwama was a huge success with all stakeholders including senior citizens, youth, members of SHGs coming together to promote voter awareness and participation.
The event was organized under the close supervision and directions of District Election Officer DEO, Puwlama Dr. Basharat Qayoom.
This event proved crucial in spreading awareness about the importance of voting and encouraging people to exercise their democratic right.

Kulgam: In a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering voter awareness and engagement, the District Administration Kulgam through an innovative approach utilizing traditional Kashmiri Folk Theatre, specifically the renowned forms of Band Peathar and Ladishah on Thursday reached out to the electors across the district.
Under the banner of ‘Hanste Hanste- Voter Awareness,’ this initiative has successfully permeated every nook and corner of Kulgam District, bringing crucial information and awareness to the populace.
The District Election Officer (DEO) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan highlighting the significance of the programme said that to raise awareness and increase voter turnout, multifarious activities were carried out across the district under SVEEP.
He said since Kashmiri Folk Theatre – Band Peathar and Ladishah is well connected to the people, they utilized this medium extensively to disseminate voter awareness.
By integrating local artists and performers into the outreach program, the initiative not only captivated the audience but also ensured that the message resonated deeply within the community, added the DEO Kulgam.

LS Elections 2024: SWD G’bal launches Election Awareness initiative for PwD , Senior Citizens
Ganderbal: On the directions of the District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, the Department of Social Welfare Ganderbal initiated a comprehensive election awareness campaign targeting specifically persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
This significant outreach initiative, featuring key stakeholders such as One Stop Centre, Senior Citizen Home, District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Mission Vatsalya aims to educate and facilitate easy access to voting processes for these important community groups.
The campaign will encompass a series of informational sessions and workshops across Ganderbal District.
These sessions are designed to inform and assist individuals in understanding their voting rights, the importance of their votes, and the logistics of how they can cast their votes with ease, ensuring that no citizen is left behind during the electoral process.
Pertinently, District Administration Ganderbal is committed to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of their physical abilities or age, has the knowledge and means to participate in the democratic process, and in this regard all arrangements are meticulously put in place.

SVEEP team hosts musical concert at GDC Mendhar to reach out young Electorates
Mehdhar: As part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the District Election Cell Poonch organized a musical concert themed “MY VOTE , MY VOICE” at Government Degree College here. .
The aim of the concert was to educate and motivate young voters to exercise their right to vote as responsible citizens.
The event witnessed impressive performances by Ehsan Asgar, Aftab Mir and other local artists.
Speaking on the occasion, District Election Officer Yasin M.Choudhary emphasized that the purpose of the programme was to spread electoral literacy among students and youth and motivate them to participate in the election process. He further urged the young voters to exercise their franchise without fail and contribute towards strengthening of democracy.
The event witnessed huge participation of students and locals which gave a fillip to the already built up electoral atmosphere in the district.
A signature campaign was also conducted to motivate the voters to cast their vote.
