2 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized in B’la, 2 drivers arrested: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that while cracking a whip on illegal mining of minerals it has seized two vehicles (tractors) and arrested two drivers in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that it has initiated the action under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla assisted by SHO Police Station Sheeri seized two vehicles (tractors) and arrested two drivers identified as Yawar Rasheed Sheikh S/o Abdul Rasheed & Umair Ahmad Ahanger S/o Mohd Shafi both residents of Fatehgarh Sheeri Baramulla involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Sheeri besides initiating further investigation , Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/River, as it is the violation of Government rules but also warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
