2 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug Peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund during patrolling at Gulabbugh near Khatana Petrol Pump intercepted a suspect Balwinder Kumar S/o Mewa Ram R/o Ratharwan, Pathankot carrying a nylon bag, adding therein that during search 4.3 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the said bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that a police party of Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Naibasti Qaimoh intercepted a suspect Gulzar Ahmad Allaie S/o Abdul Khaliq Allaie R/o Chinigam Chanpora, Frisal who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully , Police in its statement further said that during search 2 Kgs of Charas like substance filled in the nylon bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused peddlers who were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward or Dial 112 with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extended their cooperation to Police in eradicating the drug menace from the society.
