2 villages in Bastar division witness polling in Lok Sabha for first time

Srinagar: The second phase of General Elections 2024 unfolded across 88 Polling Constituencies (PCs) in 1 States/Union Territories (UTs), witnessing a robust voter turnout of approximately 60.96% by 7 PM.
This phase marked the completion of voting in 14 States/UTs for the ongoing elections, showcasing the active participation of citizens in shaping the country’s democratic future.
From the break of dawn until the twilight hours, citizens from every corner of the nation poured into polling stations, eager to exercise their fundamental right to vote.
As the clock struck 7 PM, the electoral landscape was adorned with an impressive turnout, approximated at 60.96%, painting a vivid picture of civic engagement and democratic fervor.
Under the watchful gaze of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and his stalwart team of Election Commissioners, Gyanesh Kumar and Shri Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, the Election Commission of India (ECI) orchestrated a symphony of security and efficiency. Across every polling station, a palpable sense of order and tranquility prevailed, ensuring that voters could cast their ballots without inhibition or apprehension.
In the heartland of Bihar, where the sun beat down relentlessly, polling time was gracefully extended until 6 PM in select constituencies including Banka, Madhepura, Khagaria, and Munger. Here, the Election Commission’s meticulous planning manifested in a display of compassion and foresight, as polling officials distributed shade, cool drinking water, and medical aid to alleviate the discomfort of voters braving the scorching heat.
Amidst the sea of voters, a vibrant tapestry of culture and tradition unfurled, with polling officials and voters alike adorning themselves in resplendent traditional attire. From the rustic charm of rural villages to the bustling streets of urban centers, the electoral process resonated with the colors and rhythms of India’s rich cultural heritage.
One of the most poignant moments of inclusivity unfolded in the verdant landscapes of Bastar and Kanker in Chhattisgarh, where polling booths were established within the very heart of rural communities for the first time in a Lok Sabha Election. This groundbreaking initiative, coupled with the introduction of 102 new polling stations in the first two phases, underscored the Election Commission’s unwavering commitment to fostering accessibility and inclusivity in the electoral process. In the bustling metropolis of Bengaluru, the spirit of democracy intertwined with the world of sports, as cricketing luminaries Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, and Javagal Srinath, among others, emerged from the cricket pitch to cast their votes. Their presence not only galvanized the youth but also served as a poignant reminder of the profound impact that active civic engagement can have on the nation’s trajectory. As the sun set on Phase 2 of General Elections 2024, India stood at a crossroads of history, her democratic spirit burning ever brighter amidst the challenges of the present. With each passing phase, the collective voice of the nation grows stronger, echoing the timeless ideals of democracy and unity that bind her diverse tapestry of people together.
