Doda: To commemorate World Malaria Day, the Department of Health, under the banner of District Health Society, organized a series of awareness programmes in different health facilities in District Doda.
The events were held under the supervision of CMO, Dr Om Kumar and guidance of BMOs concerned.
During the programme, the staff made the general public aware about the day and measures to prevent spread of Malaria.
They stressed on keeping the surroundings clean, wear clothes that cover the whole body, use mosquito repellents and maintain personal hygienic conditions to minimize the possibilities of spreading malaria.
The main programme was observed at ANMT School Doda, where CMO was the Chief Guest.
Principal ANMT, AnusuyaBhan, DPMU, Malaria Staff, ANMT students and staff besides staff of CMO/Dy CMO Office were also present on the occasion.
Talking about the symptoms and preventions, the CMO said that the lack of sanitization in colonies and buildings in both rural and urban areas is contributing to the rise in malaria cases.
“Malaria symptoms include fever, chills, sweats, fatigue, nausea and body aches, with severe cases leading to complications like organ failure or coma. If you experience these symptoms after travelling to a malaria-endemic area, seek immediate medical attention,” said Dr Om Kumar.
The CMO informed about the malaria prevention preparedness for the current year and stressed that the Health Department, with coordinated efforts from all stakeholders, shall pave the way for elimination of malaria.
Students of ANMT Doda and officials from the Health Department also spoke on the occasion about the significance of the day.
