Kulgam: The second randomisation of polling staff for Lok Sabha General Elections, 2024 was on Wednesday held at Kulgam.
This randomization of polling staff was conducted under the supervision of General Election Observer, Jenu Devan for the 3-Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency and DEO Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan.
The Polling Parties for all the three constituencies (38-DH Pora, 39-Kulgam and 40-Devsar) of District Kulgam were formed and were allocated to Concerned Assistant Returning Officers.
Each Polling Party comprises a Presiding Officer and Three polling Officers. A total of 105 Polling Parties (Plus Reserve) were allocated to 105 Polling Stations for Assembly Segment 38-DH Pora, 132 Poll Parties (Plus Reserve) to 132 Polling Stations for Assembly segment 39-Kulgam and similarly 127 Poll parties (Plus Reserve) for Manning of 127 Polling Stations of 40-Devsar.
Present on the occasion were Assistant Returning Officers of all the three Assembly Constituencies of Kulgam District, Nodal Officer Manpower Management, Dy-District Election Officer, District Informatics Officer and other concerned Officers.
LS Elections 2024: G’bal hosts marathon, cycle race for voter awareness under SVEEP
Ganderbal: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Ganderbal, in collaboration with the District Administration and the Chief Education Officer Ganderbal on Wednesday successfully conducted a marathon and cycle race to promote voter awareness among the youth.
These events were part of the broader Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative aimed at encouraging an informed and active electorate.
The marathon, initiated by Deputy Chief Education Officer Ganderbal/ Nodal Officer SVEEP, Rumaisa Sangeen, began at the Benhama Bypass and concluded at the Environmental Park Manigam.
Concurrently, the cycle race kicked off at the Clock Tower Duderhama, led by the Zonal Physical Education Officer of Ganderbal and finished at the Government College of Physical Education Ganderbal via Fatepora.
These activities saw the participation of approximately 700 spirited students from various schools across the district, highlighting the importance of each vote and urging especially first-time voters to partake in the democratic process.
LS Elections 2024: GDC Hajin organises awareness rally to promote election participation
Bandipora: NSS Unit of GDC Hajin organised a rally from College campus to the main market of Hajin, in order to spread awareness about the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The rally organised under SVEEP initiative was flagged-off by Principal GDC Hajin, Professor (Dr.) Zahoor Ahmad.
Addressing participants, the principal expressed his views about the values and importance of the Right to Vote for nation building and prosperity.
Dr. Mehraj Hajini, Head Department of Political Science also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of vote.
In the rally, NSS volunteers and students of the college displayed posters and placards depicting slogans related to the importance of voting for the future of our country.

LS Elections 2024: Pulwama admin reaches last village in Lurgam during SVEEP drive
Pulwama: The Lam Tral community is gearing up to enhance electoral participation through the implementation of an innovative SVEEP spearheaded by District Election Office Pulwama and community leaders.
This initiative aims to empower citizens and promote a culture of active civic engagement in the upcoming electoral processes.
The event saw participation from individuals across various demographics, including the general public, women, persons with disabilities (PWD), and senior citizens from Zisbal, Gutengoo, D. G Gund, Bangidarsoinard and neighboring villages.
The program also featured cultural presentations, including traditional performances like Ladishah and Gojri dance, Dolki by talented students and youth from the village, adding a colorful and festive touch to the occasion.

LS Elections 2024: DEO G’bal discusses preparedness with Nodal Officers
Ganderbal: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the District Election Officer (DEO) Ganderbal, Shyambir on Wednesday conducted a detailed meeting with designated Nodal Officers to review and strengthen the district’s election readiness.
During the meeting, Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and Nodal Officers updated the DEO on the current status of preparations, including logistics, transportation of polling staff and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), voter education, and facilities at polling stations.
Specific focus was placed on manpower, training management, expenditure monitoring, and the arrangement at Dispatch and Reception centers, among others.
The DEO emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to the Election Commission of India’s guidelines and took a first-hand appraisal of various critical aspects and activities necessary for the smooth conduct of the elections.
He directed the Nodal Officer for AMF/CEO to ensure Assured Minimum Facilities at all polling booths to accommodate electorates, polling staff, and security personnel effectively.
A special focus was put on enhancing Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities.
The Nodal Officer for SVEEP was tasked with expanding outreach through collaboration with Self-Help Groups, ASHAs, and Anganwadi Workers to ensure ground-level communication is effective.
College HODs were urged to engage students and staff in innovative activities under the SVEEP to boost voter awareness and participation.
The DEO also instructed all officers to ensure that all logistical and operational plans are in place to facilitate electorates, polling staff and the security personnel deployed for electoral duties on the Election Day.
He stressed the need for all designated Nodal officers to maintain close cooperation and coordination with executing departments to ensure a transparent and peaceful election.
The meeting saw the attendance of SSP Ganderbal, Sandeep Gupta; Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gulzar Ahmad; Dy DEO, ACR, SDM Kangan, and other key district officers and officials, all committed to delivering a free and fair electoral process.
LS Elections 2024: GDC Pampore’s Electoral Literacy Club conducts Polling Booth Mock Drill
Pulwama: As part of the ongoing Special Voter Enrollment and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, the Electoral Literacy Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore on Wednesday organized a vibrant ‘Mock Drill of Polling Booth’ with an aim to engage both staff and students in the electoral process.
The mock drill was held under the leadership of Principal Prof. Huda Galzai in the College Multipurpose Hall.
Convened by Prof. Arifat Jan, HOD of Political Science and the Club’s Convenor, the Mock Drill exemplified the college’s commitment to fostering electoral literacy and civic engagement.
