Srinagar : Police on Tuesday booked 8 drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the drug smugglers namely Javid Mohiuddin Bhat S/o Gh Mohiuddin Bhat R/o Allapora Karhama Kunzer, Danish Ahmad Dhobi S/o Ghulam Mohd R/o Ogmuna Kunzer, Ghulam Mohiuddin S/o Sakhi Mohd R/o Chandoosa, Adil Ahmad Bhat S/o Nasir Ahmad R/o Goom Ahmadpora Pattan, Wikar Hussain Beigh S/o Arshid Hussain R/o Lateefabad Chandoosa, Afreed Ahmad Wani S/o Habibullah R/o Bandi Payeen Chandoosa, Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Gulzar Ahmad & Mohammad Asif Bhat S/o Ghulam Hassan, both residents of Maloora Srinagar were booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
Stating that the said booked drug smugglers were detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, Police in its statement further said that many cases were registered against these drug smugglers for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Bandi, Kunzer, Ogmuna, Pattan, Mirgund Wagoora, Kreeri and other areas of the District and despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
