Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti said on Sunday that guns, stones, and boycotts served nothing and urged people to vote on the polling day.

Mufti is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from the Anantnag-Rajouri seat against National Conference candidate Mian Altaf, Democratic Progressive Azad Party’s (DPAP) Mohammad Saleem, and Apni Party leader Zaffar Manhas.

“If there will emerge something, that would be through the ballot only so that we could tell New Delhi that what they did in 2019 is not acceptable to us and should be restored with full interest,” Mehbooba said during a public rally in south Kashmir’s Kokernag today.

“I hope the people will come out and vote, as nothing was achieved by poll boycotts, stones, and guns,” the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said.

She said people are facing strenuous problems, youths are languishing in jails, and nobody is talking about them.

“We wanted to contest elections together with the National Conference and other parties as the people of Jammu and Kashmir required our support. Unfortunately, NC and its leaders did not want to, even if they did not feel at least to talk to me, the PDP president said and added, “even as I had given full authority to Farooq Abdullah to decide the seat sharing.”.

Mufti said NC workers were also wanting that we should fight the elections together.

Instead, they said that PDP doesn’t exist anymore. She said,

“How PDP could end. PDP ended Task Force, POTA, and Ikhwan during the three years of tenure and opened roads with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A process of dialogue was started with the neighbouring country. PDP has never ended; it is living in the hearts of the people, she added.
