Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the BJP’s commitment to winning the hearts of the people in Kashmir during an election rally in Jammu. He addressed concerns among Kashmiri youths about the BJP’s intentions, asserting that the party does not seek to acquire Kashmir through force but rather aims to garner support organically.
Shah criticized rival parties such as the Congress, National Conference, and Peoples Democratic Party for their past governance, accusing them of being responsible for fake encounters and violence against Kashmiri youngsters. He contrasted this with the BJP’s efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, highlighting the restoration of peace and development after the abrogation of Article 370. Appealing to the people of Kashmir, Shah urged them not to support dynastic parties, accusing them of prioritizing their own interests over public welfare. He specifically targeted leaders like Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Sonia Gandhi, accusing them of nepotism and neglecting democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah praised the BJP’s governance in Jammu and Kashmir, citing measures taken to combat corruption, militancy, and ensure transparency in job opportunities. He hailed the revocation of Article 370 as a historic step that ended discrimination against marginalized communities and women, dismissing claims by leaders like Mehbooba Mufti that it would undermine the presence of the Indian tricolor. In addition, Shah criticized Farooq Abdullah’s skepticism regarding the abrogation of Article 370, asserting that the BJP, under Modi’s leadership, had successfully achieved it. He highlighted the positive outcomes of the decision, including women’s rights to parental property and increased reservation for marginalized communities.
Shah urged the people of Kashmir to reconsider their support for the three dynastic parties, highlighting their focus on personal interests rather than public welfare. He criticized leaders like Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Sonia Gandhi for prioritizing family ties over the needs of the populace. Shah emphasized that under the rule of these parties, democracy struggled to flourish, and the youth of Kashmir were exploited under the guise of security concerns. He credited Prime Minister Modi with restoring peace and enabling development in Jammu and Kashmir, which had long been hindered by militancy and unrest. Shah emphasized the BJP’s commitment to the region’s progress, reflected in their decision to concentrate their campaign efforts on certain constituencies. Regarding Mehbooba Mufti’s assertion about the Tricolour, Shah affirmed the immortality of the national flag and celebrated its continued presence despite the removal of Article 370. He dismissed Farooq Abdullah’s skepticism about Modi’s ability to revoke Article 370, highlighting the government’s successful action in this regard. Shah also highlighted the positive changes following the revocation of Article 370, such as women gaining rights to parental property and increased reservation for marginalized communities. Further, he criticized the neglect of Dogra heritage by the NC and PDP, contrasting it with the BJP’s efforts to honor Maharaja Hari Singh and promote the Dogri language. Lastly, Shah assured that the long-awaited assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would proceed as directed by the Supreme Court, dismissing any doubts about their legitimacy. He referenced the Supreme Court’s December ruling, which mandated the Election Commission to conduct the elections before September 30 of that year.
