Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers across Kashmir and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Kreeri headed by SHO Police Station Kreeri at a checkpoint established at Guage Crossing Kreeri, intercepted one Ishtiyaq Ahmad Wani @Jana S/olGhMohdR/o Waripora Bala and during search recovered 50 grams of contraband charas like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Kreeri where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement said that in Sopore also a police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by IC Police Post Bus Stand under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir and SHO Police Station Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Iqbal Market Sopore, apprehended two suspects Jahangir Ahmad Shah S/o Ghulam Muhammad Shah R/o Neharpora Sopore and Owais Ahmad Shah S/o Noor Muhammad Shah R/o Neharpora Sopore A/P Batsuma Dangiwacha Rafiabad, adding therein that on their search, contraband/psychotropic substances including 110 grams of charas like substance, 242 tablets/capsules of banned drugs and cash ₹35,000/- was recovered from their possession.
Stating that in Kulgam also, a police party of Police Station Manzgam during patrolling near ITI KB Pora, intercepted a suspect identified as Mohd Abass Shah S/o Ghulam Mohiuddin Shah R/o KB Pora who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and later during search, 4.446 Kgs of Ganja like contraband substance concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from his procession, Police in its statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation into the cases.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police urged people to share inputs about drug peddling activities or any other crimes with the nearest police establishments or dial 112. Police in its statement also appealed People to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
