Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Shopian district and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Wachi at a checkpoint established at Safanagri, intercepted a suspect Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Mohd Dar R/o Darbagh who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and later during search, 20.548 Kgs of charas concealed in two nylon bags was recovered from his procession.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 29/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Zainapora besides initiating further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
