Srinagar: Below is the timeline of major public events held in Jammu & Kashmir this week:-
On 12th April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on dynastic parties, accusing them of misleading the public regarding Article 370. Addressing a massive rally at Modi Stadium in Udhampur District, PM Modi proclaimed the abrogation of Article 370 as the demolition of a barrier to peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
On Apr12: Lieutenant Governor ManojSinha reviewed the progress achieved by Housing and Urban Development Department at a meeting with senior officials. He took stock of Tawi Riverfront and various ongoing projects under Smart City Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban, AMRUT, PMAY (U) and DAY-NULM and functions of e-Buses and Integrated Command & Control Centre.
On April 10: In a concerted effort to tackle the illicit trade and supply of narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Secretary AtalDulloo chaired the 9th UT level Apex committee meeting of NCORD. The meeting aimed to enhance coordination among various stakeholders at the highest level.
On April 08, a non-local cab driver was injured after being shot by suspected militants in Padpawan, area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, Police said on Monday. The injured driver was identified as Paramjit Singh (Driver), a resident of Delhi. He was rushed to hospital by locals with bullet injuries in critical condition. The attack took place in the evening. Attackers managed to take advantage of the darkness and fled from the spot.
On April 08, The historic Mughal Road, closed for over four months due to snow accumulation, is set to reopen for one-way traffic from Shopian to Poonch starting Monday, officials announced. District Magistrate,Poonch issued an order stating that the road’s annual reopening is scheduled following snow clearance and landslide mitigation efforts along the route. “With the clearance of snow accumulation and landslides from KM 19 (Dogrian) to KM 43 (Peer Ki Gali), one-way traffic movement from Bufffliaz to Peer Ki Gali is permitted from April 8, 2024,” the order stated.
On April 07, the Jammu and Kashmir government granted three days of Special Casual Leave to Kashmiri Migrant Employees posted in the Kashmir Valley during the LokSabha Elections 2024. As per the official communication, the leave is specifically for those eligible to vote at Special Polling Stations set up in Jammu, Udhampur, or Delhi during different phases of the elections.
On April 07, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law & Order in Jammu and Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, along with top officials, convened a crucial meeting in Kishtwar district to assess security measures for the forthcoming LokSabha elections, officials revealed. Attended by ADGP Jammu Zone, Jammu Anand Jain, and Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the meeting aimed to scrutinize the law and order situation and election preparedness in Kishtwar, Doda, and Ramban district headquarters, as stated by a police spokesman.
On April 07. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday attached movable properties in the form of bank balances worth Rs one crore related to some of the accused, including mastermind Yatin Yadav, in the 2022 police sub-inspector scam in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The ED Spokesman revealed that in Jammu, the agency has seized movable properties, specifically bank balances, pertaining to the accused Yatin Yadav, M/s New Global Fumigation Corporation (owned by Yatin Yadav), and his associate Lokesh Kumar.
On April 06, Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager Northern Railways on Saturday visited the Srinagar-Sangaldan Section of the USBRL Project in J&K. The inspection encompassed various aspects of railway operations, including passenger train maintenance, infrastructure development, and passenger satisfaction. During the visit, CAO/USBRL S C Gupta, Senior Officers of Firozpur Division, IRCON and KRCL were also present. Shobhan Chaudhuri inspected the DEMU Passenger Train 04618, from Srinagar to Pampore, focusing on the upkeep and cleanliness of the rake.
