5 accused arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Kulgam & B’la, 5 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested five suspects for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla and Kulgam and also arrested five drivers.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kulgam, a police party led by SHO Police Station DH Pora during Naka checking at DH Pora Chowk seized a vehicle (tractor) and also arrested the driver identified as Fayaz Ahmad Rather S/o Ghulam Muhammad Rather R/o Yarikha on the spot for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow, adding therein that the accused has been shifted to police station DH Pora where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that in Baramulla also, police parties under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri, Pattan and Tangmarg assisted by SHO Police Station Kreeri, SHO Police Station Kunzer and Incharge Police Post Wussan seized four tractors and also arrested four drivers namely Tariq Ahmad Ganie R/o Saloosa Kreeri, Ab Rashid Karnie R/o Wazapora Naidkhai, Younis Ahmad Bhat and Mohd Imran Khan both residents of Aboora Baramulla involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kreeri, Wussan and Kunzer.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered in respective police stations besides initiating further investigations, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/river as it is the violation of Government rules. Police in its statement also warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
